Here are some facts about the history of candles:
 Origins: The earliest candles were made by the ancient Egyptians around 3,000 BCE. They were made by soaking the core of reeds in animal fat.
Romans: The Romans are often credited with inventing the candle, but evidence suggests that the Egyptians, Japanese, and Chinese also made candles. Name: The word "candle" comes from the Latin word candēla, which comes from candēre, meaning "to shine". Uses: Candles were used for light, in religious ceremonies, and for timekeeping. Symbolism: Candles have been used as symbols in many religions, including Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism. Materials: Candles were made from a variety of materials, including animal fat, beeswax, and whale fat. Wealth: Wealthy people preferred beeswax candles because they burned cleaner and had a pleasant scent. Timekeeping: Before clocks, candles were used to tell time. Tallest candle: The tallest candle ever made was 24.38 meters tall and was displayed at the Stockholm Exhibition in 1897. Candle maker: A candle maker was traditionally called a Chandler.
